This is a little project I created purely for myself.  I replaced the ashtray in my '99 BMW with a custom-fit piece that I built in Autodesk Alias.  It is a molded iPod holder, and provides a great solution for all the clutter that most people deal with when using an iPod/iPhone for music in a car.  You simply drop the iPod in and go.

This project also gave me a good intro to the world of 3D printing/rapid prototyping.  I am learned to create watertight models and how to adjust tolerances.

Finished part fresh out of the 3D printer (FDM material).

These were done in 3D Digital 2 (Alias 2) class at Art Center College of Design.  I studied transportation design there for two years.
